Antminer S21 T21 water cooling system upgrade instructions

The traditional cooling method for Antminer S21 / T21 is air cooling. However, when miners operate for a long time, they generate a significant amount of heat.

Ordinary air cooling may not be able to meet the continuous operation of the machine.

Once the operating temperature is too high, it can damage the internal components or stop the miner from running, failing to achieve the desired hash rate.

Water cooling systems have become one of the best cooling solutions for miners.

With their excellent thermal conductivity, they are significantly better than traditional air cooling methods.

Modifying to a water cooling system can ensure that miners achieve the best cooling effect, enabling them to operate at optimal performance even during intensive mining operations.

Installing the water cooling plate for the hash board:

1. Remove the protective case, unplug the cables, remove the air outlet fans and their baffle, remove the fixing screws of the conductive copper sheets, and take the three hash boards out of the chassis.

2. Because the S21 and T21 hash boards are aluminum substrates, they have integrated heat sinks on the front and rear. Use a screwdriver to unscrew the screws that secure the heat sinks and remove them. (Here we only need to remove the heat sinks on the front.)

3. Clean the dust and impurities on the surface of the hash board and the back of the heat sinks. Then, use a circuit board cleaner to clean the thermal grease on the surface of the ASIC chips.

4. Place the thermal grease mold on the surface of the S21 and T21 hash boards, align it with the ASIC chip holes, add an appropriate amount of 6W thermal grease to the mold, and evenly apply it to the surface of each chip.

5. After applying the thermal grease, align the water cooling plate with the screw holes on the hash board and securely lock it in place with screws.

6. Continue to repeat the above steps to modify the other 2 hash boards. After all are installed, push them into the slots correctly, connect all cables, and make sure that the positive and negative poles of the conductive copper sheets are not reversed.

7. Connect the square 4-pin fan speed simulator to the fan interface on the control board to simulate the fan speed, then install the baffle to the original cooling fan position.

Installing the external water cooling circulation system:

1. Install the base and water pump bracket on the water cooling radiator and secure them. Then, install the water pump. Subsequently, cut a water pipe of appropriate length to connect the water inlet of the water pump and the upper water outlet of the water cooling radiator.

2. Prepare two 4-hole water separators. It is necessary to connect 3 short corrugated pipes and 1 long water pipe to each water separator, then use quick connectors to fix the 6 short corrugated pipes to the interface of the installed water cooling plate.

3. Connect 1 long water pipe to the water pump outlet and the upper water separator (the water inlet of the water cooling plate). Connect the other water pipe to the water inlet of the radiator and the lower water separator (the water outlet of the water cooling plate).

4. Add coolant to the water pump. When adding coolant for the first time, the coolant level in the pump should be about 5cm from the top of the pump.

5. Connect the power cord of the water cooling radiator. At this point, the coolant in the water pump has flowed into the water cooling plate. During the first operation, the water level will drop. Continue adding coolant until the water level stops dropping.

After the modification is completed, power on and check the operating status of the machine.
